Your student has applied and attained a volunteer position with JusticeKids. In this program High School students volunteer 3 hours on Sunday from 1 pm - 3 pm to assist with our clinic. The students conduct interviews, develop interview questions, and collect information. All applicants are referred by GLAD, an organization that coordinates free assistance with applications and pro bono representation to immigrants seeking asylum. Before volunteers can begin they must first pass a training that will prepare them for their role.
In order for your student to participate we must document your written permission. Please fill out the bottom section of this notice and submit it to our Program Lead, Kiara Skalnes.
All volunteers will complete a training that will prepare them for the strong themes that will be discussed at intake, how to properly interact with applicants, and how to deal with the emotional impacts that could occur during their work. Guardians can receive copies of the training material, and are welcome at the training. Guardians can revoke their permission at any moment.
